Where can we park? Is there public transport access?

BY CAR: There are various Secure Parking stations close to the venue. To receive up to 10% off, use the code ‘merivale’ when you pre-book online.
BY TRAIN: The closest station is Wynyard Station. From Wynyard Station, head south on York St toward Erskine St. Turn right onto King St. and Work in Progress will be on the right

Are minors allowed?

Yes, a parent or guardian must accompany minors at all times.

Do you have high chairs?

Yes, this can be arranged in advance.


BYO is not permitted.

Does the venue turn into a nightclub?

Mon – Wed: 12-10pm
Thu/Fri: 12pm-late

Is there a lockout?

Last drinks are 15 minutes before close and the venue closes at the latest midnight.

Can I make a booking?


Where do I order on the day?

Drinks can be purchased over the bar. Table service is provided for all food.

I have guests with allergens, will they be accommodated?

Our menu contains allergens and is prepared in a kitchen that handles nuts, shellfish and gluten. Whilst all reasonable efforts are taken to accommodate guest dietary needs, we cannot guarantee that our food will be allergen free. WIP does not cater to Gluten Free.

Is there a TAB, pokies or bottle shop?

Group Bar Booking FAQ’s

Are deposits required to book? Is there a minimum spend?

No, deposits are not required. However, for large groups we will require a credit card to secure the reservation.

If I have a booking, what do I do on arrival?

On arrival, please see one of our friendly bar staff, who will accompany you to your reserved area.

If I have a booking, what happens if I arrive early?

If your reserved section is free you’re welcome to use the area earlier. Otherwise, our staff will find you a suitable alternative until the dedicated space becomes free at your booked time.

What if I am running late for my booking?

It is important to let us know if you are running late, as your table may be booked for another reservation after your seating. Please call us to advise delay; otherwise we will hold the table for a period of 15 minutes.

If I have a lunch booking, what happens when my booking time finishes?

Depending if there is an allocated booking in the evening, your group may be relocated to an alternative suitable area.

If I have a Group Booking, will all of my guests have a seat?

Deepening on size. For large groups, seating is allocated as a mixture of sitting and standing.

How do I cancel a booking?

Can we pre-order food or beverages?

Yes! We encourage large bookings to pre-order food and beverage in advance. Please speak with your bookings coordinator to discuss options. Please note three days notice and full pre-payment is required.

Can I bring decorations?

Hanging decorations, balloons and streamers are not permitted.

Can we have speeches or AV?

Speeches are not permitted.

Can I bring a cake?
