Restaurant Reservations FAQ’s

What is the cuisine style?

Cambodian-style street food, which is designed to be shared. Think seafood and meat cooked over charcoal, or noodle and rice dishes tossed through the wok.

How long will the pop-up run for?

Kingdom of Rice will operate for a period of about 6 months. We’re here for a good time, not a long time!

What’s the story behind the collaboration with ACME?

We love teaming up with other talented people in the industry and seeing the creative sparks fly. This is Merivale’s second collaboration at the Tennyson Hotel, following the popular American-style Italian eatery, Dirty Italian Disco, with Mike Eggert and Jemma Whiteman.
This time we’re joining forces with the team behind the exciting inner-east restaurant ACME- Mitch Orr, Cam Fairbairn, Lillia McCabe and Sophia Thach, and serving up Cambodian-style street food that draws on the ACME team’s signature innovative approach.

We know Merivale have teamed up with ACME for this pop up but what and where is ACME?

ACME is an Asian-Italian restaurant in Rushcutters Bay, which is run by the prince of pasta Mitch Orr and front of house legend Cam Fairbairn.

What is Kingdom of Rice like?

Inspired by the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh markets, Kingdom of Rice is colour-charged and flavor-driven. Built inside an old drive-through bottle shop (and now a walk-in wine fridge), this driveway eatery is casual, fun and fast.
