For those of you who like to keep your Cup low-key, but still want to be organised, we’ve got a special Melbourne Cup menu sorted for you at Excelsior Hotel. We’ve pulled together a Mexican feast for $40 per person (with a minimum for four people) that includes a with mix of lighter options, classic Mexican mains like nachos and tacos plus some desserts. Just add a few margaritas and you’ll be off and racing for the day.
Celebrate Melbourne Cup in our maritime-themed 30 Knots for a day of quality pub food, craft beer and good times. For $65 you’ll receive a glass of Chandon Brut or Furphy when you arrive, followed by a delicious three-course set menu including shared starters, choice of main and a dessert. For a day of good old-fashioned race day fun without all the fuss, make yourself at home at 30 Knots.
If you’re planning on keeping your options open this Melbourne Cup, we warmly welcome walk-ins at angel hotel. Get in early for lunch and have one of our famous angel sandwiches – a crowd favourite is The Raphael with hot pepper salami, provolone cheese, relish, rocket and spinach served on Sonoma miche - then nab yourself a good spot for watching the race and soak up the pub atmosphere.
For a fun day in the middle of the city without all of the fuss, check out Hotel CBD Ground Floor. We’re open for business as usual on Cup Day, and have TAB facilities on site - but we’re louder and livelier. Have a classic pub lunch and a few drinks before the big race. Sorted.
Renowned British chef Alastair Little is at the helm of Little Bistro, a front runner for a classic Cup Day experience. For $150, you’ll enjoy a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label or a Furphy on arrival plus a four-course seasonal menu designed by Alastair. If you fancy a flutter, place your bets at our on-site TAB facilities downstairs, then settle in for the big race.
Make Cup Day a Mexican fiesta at our Sand & Garden bar at Slip Inn. For $85 you’ll receive a glass of Chandon Brut or Furphy when you arrive, then spend the day feasting on our massive paella and shared Mexican platters. We’ll have live music and DJs playing throughout the day and into the night for a fun and festive Cup Day that’ll have you saying olé!
If you like a buzzing atmosphere, the Beresford Bistro is a winning bet for Cup Day. For $120, you’ll be greeted with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label on arrival followed by a three-course shared menu. Think Sydney rock oysters, antipasto and vegetables to start, followed by mains that will include gnocchi, porchetta and ocean trout – with cheese and dessert to finish. View the race on the big screen, then dance the night away upstairs.
With a big screen to watch the big race, our beer garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny Cup Day afternoon. For $85 you’ll enjoy a glass of Chandon Brut or Furphy when you arrive as well some tasty canapés. When the sun goes down, change gears into party mode and head upstairs where our DJs will be spinning into the night.
With a balcony, cutting-edge sound system and a cocktail lounge out back, Beresford Upstairs is made for a Melbourne Cup party. Trot on down to vibrant Surry Hills and for $85 you’ll enjoy Chandon Brut or Furphy on arrival and roving canapés in our upstairs bar. When the sun goes down, get into the party vibe and dance the night away to our resident DJs.
